Kart racer Alexander Gatton won both his heats and the grand final at a rain soaked Lydd International raceway last Sunday.
The 11-year-old from Upper Beeding also set the fastest lap of the meeting in his 80mph Arisco mini max kart.
Gatton's smooth driving style really paid off in the treacherous conditions.
He was recently signed as the official mini max driver for the world renowned Arisco kart manufacturers of Spain. Formula One ace Rubens Barrichello, who partners Michael Schumacher at Ferrari, began his karting career on an Arisco kart and the manufacturer was naturally delighted that their latest signing gave them a victory on their debut in this new formula for 11 to 16 year olds.
As they have such highly tuned engines on a lightweight chassis, it means they have the same acceleration as a Ferrari up to 80mph.
Dad Michael said: "Alexander has amassed a mountain of trophies since he began karting at the age of eight.
"He hopes to add one more this weekend when he will be racing at Buckmore Park circuit, wheel to wheel with the likes of Henry Surtees, son of ex-F1 champion John Surtees."
Alexander is a pupil at St Christopher's school in Hove. He is also a keen clarinet player and has recently achieved his Grade 5 exam with distinction.
