Wayne Alexander will make a return to the ring in a non-title eight-round fight in Newcastle on December 14.
The Hailsham-based British and European light-middleweight champion will feature on a bill which is topped by Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe.
Alexander's opponent has yet to be named but is expected to be an Eastern European and could even be a rematch with Ukrainian Victor Fessetchko, who the Sussex fighter beat on points 16 months ago.
The Newcastle bill sees Hatton making an eighth defence of his WBU light-welterweight title against Antonio Mesquita of Brazil. The Manchester fighter will share top billing with WBO world super-middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe's clash with American Thomas Tate.
Next month's contest will be a warm-up fight for Alexander ahead of his showdown with Puerto Rican Daniel Santos for the WBO and WBU lightmiddleweight titles, which has been earmarked to take place in February.
