However no secondary schools in Brighton and Hove or East Sussex feature in the top 400 of the Sunday Times' Parent Power schools list.
The 60-page supplement contains exam results league tables for secondary schools.
The guide, compiled by Brighton-based Schools- net, provides parents with statistics and profiles of Britain's top 1,000 state schools.
The highest-placed Sussex school is Bishop Luffa Church of England (CofE) School in Chichester, in 191st place.
Holy Trinity CofE School in Crawley is ranked 219th, with the Weald School in Billingshurst 295th, and Hazelwick School in Crawley 315th.
Davison CofE High School for Girls in Worthing is placed 344th, with Felpham Community College in Bognor in 374th.
Itchingfield Primary School in Horsham was the only Sussex school in the top 450 state primary schools, in 345th place.
The primary school rankings were based on performances over three years in statutory tests for English, maths and science (SATs).
On a separate list, of schools with fewer than 20 11-year-olds eligible to take SATs, Loxwood Primary School in Billingshurst was placed sixth in the top 50.
