Robbie Pook boosted Wick's fight for survival in division one with the only goal in a 1-0 win at home to Sidley United.
With fellow strugglers Littlehampton, Peacehaven and Redhill all losing, it was a good weekend for manager Richie Reynolds whose side moved five points clear of the danger zone.
Pook struck on 38 minutes with a volley at the back post after a corner had been flicked on.
Wick keeper Michael Oakley saved a penalty before half time but Sidley rarely threatened in the second half. For Wick, Mark Price twice hit the post while Paul Morby missed from two yards and was later denied by a tremendous save.
Reynolds said: "We probably had five or six good chances against their penalty. We know we are getting there but we haven't had much luck recently. We worked hard today and certainly earned the result."
