Project Linus is a non-profit-making organisation run entirely by volunteers which aims to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatised or otherwise in need by providing them with new, handmade, washable blankets and quilts created by volunteer knitters and stitchers.
As co-ordinator for Sussex, I am seeking your help in developing Project Linus in the county.
The age range to consider is from babies to 19-year-olds.
Quilts and blankets made by groups and individuals have already been accepted by hospitals in Sussex for children in their care and these have been welcomed by the nursing staff.
These security blankets stimulate both visual and tactile senses yet can be calming at quiet times when a child wants to snuggle up.
The organisation does not accept monetary donations but would welcome offers of suitable fabric and knitting wool.
Should you be unable to knit or stitch, you may feel you would like to help in other ways. Please contact me for further information.
