Hove moved up to third in London Four South East after a nail-biting win over Folkestone.
They were always on top at home to the kent side but had to wait until the last quarter for the scores which clinched a 16-15 win.
The win put Hove three points behind Chichester, though forthcoming games with the leaders and Bognor should show whether they can sustain a promotion challenge.
Forwards Dom Henderson and Dick Swann forced their way over to add to two Martin Lovell penalties.
Skipper Richard Jackson admitted it was a poor match but said: "We were never hanging on."
