Ben Polhill has told his Chichester side to keep winning on the road if they want to complete a second successive title.
Last season's Sussex One champions went two points clear in London Four South East after Saturday's 16-5 win in the eagerly-awaited derby at Bognor.
That result helped them open up a gap over Bromley, who lost at Old Dunstonians.
Chi have made their Oaklands Park home a fortress but still face some testing trips out of Sussex this season.
Skipper Polhill said: "We have played a few home games but we need to get some of these road trips out of the way before we really know where we stand.
"Last season we knew who the teams to beat would be but this league is more unpredictable. You look at the fixtures on a Saturday morning and you can't really say who will beat who."
Jack Smallman and Tim Rogers were responsible for Chi's scores as they came from five points down.
Smallman kicked two penalties before Rogers seized on a handling error to kick through and score.
More good pressure from Rogers gave him the chance to send Smallman in for the final try.
Bognor thought they were on course for a crucial win when skipper Karl Flynn sent Andy Shipp in for a 25-yard finish in the opening minutes.
Flynn said: "We did not play badly but they had done their homework on us. They worked out our lineout straight away."
