Worthing produced the outstanding result of the day in the Kent/Sussex Regional League to defeat previously unbeaten Tunbridge Wells 4-1.
After three consecutive defeats, Worthing bounced back in style with an excellent performance to beat a side who were second in the table at the start of play.
Dan Lock gave Worthing the lead with his fourth goal in as many games, converting a simple finish after a burst forward and lay off from John Massie.
Massie was also involved in the second goal, combining superbly down the left with Ramiz Inga who set up the advancing James Godber to make it 2-0.
The visitors pulled a goal back early in the second half, but Worthing responded when Ramiz set up Dave Beales for the third goal before skipper David Edmondson wrapped up victory by scoring the fourth with a penalty stroke.
Edmondson said: "It is a big confidence booster for us. If we played like that all season we would win every game. It is just a case of reproducing it each week."
Mid Sussex moved back up to fourth place after a 2-1 win at Horsham.
Stuart Donaldson gave Horsham a deserved 1-0 half time lead after being set up by skipper Richard Lowe.
However, the home side failed to take advantage when Mid Sussex had goalkeeper Greg Purdie sent off.
Mids played much better in the second half and equalised through James Goodwin after a good run from Stuart McConachie.
John Holmes then scored the winner, finding the roof of the net from a Ben Firmin free hit.
Leaders Brighton ran out 7-1 winners over rock bottom Old Williamsonians.
Goals came from Richard Cook (two), Craig Carolan (two), Don Turnbull, with his first of the season, Gareth Lendrum and Graham Pruce.
