Horsham progressed to the third round of the Sussex Senior Cup with a 1-0 win over Hassocks at Queen Street.
The Hornets started slowly and the visitors could have gone ahead in the seventh minute when Richard Thompson's deep cross was headed wide by Graham Beveridge at the far post.
Horsham took the lead six minutes before the interval when Lee Butcher attempted to pass to Gary Charman but Micky Turner intercepted and sent the ball flying into his own goal off the right post from 20 yards.
Horsham kept things tight in the second half and Hassocks' only real chance came when Chris Hewett's 30 yard free kick took a slight deflection on its way to goal, though Ian Chatfield was still able to push the ball over the bar.
For Horsham, Matt Ottley bounced a cross off the bar and Gavin Geddes lifted the ball over an empty goal in the 51st minute after Carlo Castrechino's cross had been missed by the Hassocks defence.
Burgess Hill will face St Leonards in the third round after a 1-0 win at home to Three Bridges.
The only goal came four minutes from time when substitute Steve Harper seized on a mistake by Bridges skipper Steve Roberts and fired home from just inside the penalty area.
Hillians boss Danny Bloor said: "I am pleased. We defended well and to be fair they only had one shot on target. The scoreline did not reflect our superiority.
"That means St Leonards at home in the next round and I think the draw has been relatively kind."
Wick came from behind to beat Selsey 2-1 at Crabtree Park.
Clinton More gave Selsey the lead just before half time but Lee Webber levelled for Wick midway through the second half with a lob over the goalkeeper.
The winner came five minutes from time when Mark Price finished off the best move of the game by side-footing into the net from 12 yards.
Wick boss Richie Reynolds said: "We shaded it but it was two bad sides. It was a very scrappy affair."
The tie between Whitehawk and Ringmer was called off after vandals had damaged the floodlights at East Brighton Park.
Paul Thomas struck as 90th minute winner as Chichester won 1-0 at Redhill in Matthew Clark County League division one.
A third goal of the season for Thomas lifted Chi up to seventh in the table.
Withdean 2000, who entertain St Margaretsbury in the second round of the FA Vase at Worthing tonight, have signed Sean Randell from Burgess Hill.
