Sussex karate fans were out in force at the weekend for the annual county championships.
Fighters aged six to 60 took part in the prestigious event at Lancing Leisure Centre and there were some exceptional performances.
Among the entrants to caught the eye was six-year-old Daniela Jefferies who came third in the yellow and orange belt at Kyu grade.
There was also an entertaining duel between 12-year-olds Stephanie Hamil and Kiri Potter but rival Yasmin Christie ran out the winner in their field.
Sensei Martin Day, who founded the Sussex karate organisation, was chief judge at the competition. He said: "It was a thoroughly enjoyable day. There were some excellent performances and the support from parents, partners and spectators was superb.
"Everyone enjoyed themselves and demonstrated what an enjoyable and popular sport karate is. It is such a positive sport because it instills a huge amount of confidence in all the participants."
