Trialist Roger Pandong marked his Albion debut with the winner to send the Reserves into the third round of the Sussex Senior Cup at Woodside Road last night.
The Cameroon teenager, who turns 19 today, caught the eye on the left of midfield and scored the only goal in the 15th minute when he converted John Piercy's cross from close range.
Pandong's display, and that of others such as the fit-again Piercy, ensured the on-looking triumvirate of Steve Coppell, Martin Hinshelwood and Bob Booker had plenty to digest after the club's first reserve match in six weeks.
Coppell said: "It was useful because everyone is judged on performances and results and this is where it matters rather than the training field.
"It's good to get a game for them and now we have to make sure we keep them competitive because they hadn't played for several weeks and it showed at times."
