While some couples enjoy a good tiff, one happy pair from Worthing say the secret to a successful marriage is never having a row.
Laurence and Freda Tarrant, both 81, celebrated their diamond wedding yesterday, following a party at the Beach Hotel, Worthing, on Sunday.
Retired sales director and army gunner Laurence, met Freda when they were working for the Co-op in South London. They had to wait until Laurence finished fighting in the Second World War before getting married.
Laurence said: "We've cracked it, we have never had a row."
Freda, who used to work as a counting machine operator, said: "I have got the most placid husband there is. I still love him, you know."
The couple of Sea Lane, Worthing, have one daughter, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
