Feelers is an exhibition that targets the senses in ways not usually experienced when looking at art.
Fabrica Gallery's consistent emphasis on art that actively involves the visitor is played out once again with this show.
Jonathan Swain, who organised the exhibition, said: "All the pieces trigger thoughts about senses.
"We wanted to use the senses, but not in the most direct and obvious manner.
"Rather than having a purely visual exhibition, we wanted a sensory exhibition."
The first installation is by architectural duo Josephine Pletts and Usman Haque whose work pushes the boundaries of traditional architecture.
Scents of Space is an enclosed room, constructed inside Fabrica, which releases up to nine fragrances in a controlled way.
As you move around the room a sensor picks up on your presence and releases smells such as chocolate, petrol, vanilla, and coffee.
The smells travel in straight lines from the front to the back of the room, the idea being that in a way the smell tracks your movement like a map.
When you move, your body mingles the different scents to create new, possibly pleasant or unpleasant smells, evoking memories associated with certain aromas.
Pletts and Haque are interested in the ways smell is used in various environments, such as how the smell of freshly-baked bread is pumped out in supermarkets to entice the shopper into buying bread.
Red Cave, by video artists Judith Rosso and Kate Ross, is a two-screen projection of a pair of laughing mouths.
The film and sound have been slowed down so that the laughing is transformed into a primal roar.
The deep-hearted laughter, the movements of the red lips and close-ups of the inside of the mouths evoke several connotations - childbirth, expressions of joy and sexuality.
Swain says of Rosso: "Her work is very much about provoking people."
A Case of Vanity is a surreal short video by Bristol artist Carolyn Black.
A vanity case is unzipped to reveal an eye which stares back at you as you stare at it. In the lit up case it appears as a closely guarded sacred object. The nose, mouth and eye are paid homage to here in unexpected ways.
Pletts and Haque will give a talk on the use of smell in their architectural designs on Thursday, December 5, from 6.30pm until 7.30pm.
