Surely a sensible solution to the pay claim would be for the firefighters to be given a reasonable rise topped up by danger money commensurate with the life-threatening risks their calling forces them to take.
Any other section wanting parity with the firefighters' award would have to prove a similar measure of risk in their occupation.
One hopes and prays for a speedy and sensible solution so these brave people don't feel the need to strike any more.
