Cash-strapped St Leonards have been forced to release Andy Johnson.
The former Lewes midfielder left Saints this week because they cannot afford his wages. He is set to join Ringmer.
Johnson is the last of the club's contracted players to quit after Saints slashed their playing budget last month.
Player-manager Terry White is also without Steve Ferguson for the trip to lowly Spalding, who are a place below Saints in the Dr Martens eastern division in 19th spot.
White is desperate to end a dreadful run of seven consecutive league defeats.
He said: "We have Newport coming up, who are bottom, so we have to stop the rot quickly."
