In reply to the "Vallance Three" (Letters, November 14), I confirm I am standing as a prospective candidate in Hove.
One of the many reasons for this is because of the offhand way Brighton and Hove City Council deals with residents' concerns. The Three's letter even ignored the issue I originally wrote about - the King Alfred site.
I can now appreciate why our Vallance councillors cannot answer questions directly as I saw for the first time in The Argus Brian Fitch's title of Chief Whip being used.
Of course, any view that is contradictory is seen as hostile and I am described as the "new enemy". This duplicates the system at Westminster, where any opposition means a personal attack on the holder of those views.
Presently, it seems what is best for the residents of Hove takes second place but I am sure my fellow residents will be heard in the elections next May.
As I am new to local politics, I am having to learn fast. My running mate, Jan Young, and I are going to fasten our seatbelts - I think we are in for a bumpy ride.
