I was very pleased to read the article on the need for a new centre in Sussex for the monitoring and treatment of people with ME (November 20).
I have had ME for the past ten years and, like Kate Robertson, have had to travel to London to see my consultant for treatment.
This has been very difficult to maintain because of the nature of my illness. I have at times been unable to attend on the day as I was too ill. I recognise this is a great waste of limited NHS resources.
Sussex would benefit greatly from a centre. I would be able to get there more easily and it would be easier for friends or carers to accompany me there.
The illness is a very serious one which, because it is not life threatening, is not given a high priority. This needs to be addressed and rectified.
