The latest in Littlehampton Museum's occasional series of exhibitions of John White photographs has opened in the Lens Room.
Arundel and Barnham are the villages in focus this time.
John White was a Littlehampton photographer who started his business in the 1870s.
His first premises were in High Street, on the site now occupied by Sussex Stationers.
In the early 1890s he moved to Beach Road where White's continued to trade until 1968.
He took photographs of people, places and events in the town and the surrounding area, many of which were made into postcards.
The pictures on display are a small number of the White photographs that are in the collection.
John Singleton, chairman of Littlehampton Town Council's community resources committee, said: "These are fascinating images of two local villages that will be familiar to many people.
"They show how much this area has changed, but also the things that have stayed the same."
Rebecca Fardell, curator of Littlehampton Museum, said: "The museum is fortunate to have a large number of White's photographs in its collection.
"He was a talented photographer and his images capture much of Littlehampton's history, both its people and places.
"This on-going series of exhibitions about local villages is an opportunity to celebrate aspects of his work."
Mr White's Country Camera on Arundel and Barnham runs in the Lens Room until December 14.
