New England Consortium manager Chris Gilbert (The Argus, November 29) claims to "aim to make this one of the UK's greenest community developments by using the latest technology".
Yet all he is proposing is a combined heat and power gas-fired power station.
While this might be more efficient than Shoreham power station, it is hardly cutting-edge stuff.
Cutting-edge technology would have buildings insulated to standards higher than required by building regulations and all rainwater would be recycled for use on site.
Electricity and water heating would be generated using solar and wind power.
This would leave the space for the gas-fired power station free to be used for more pressing needs such as housing.
Given the serious shortage of space, wasting land for a power station which fuels climate change is crazy and certainly is not green.
