I am swiftly coming to the conclusion Brighton and Hove City Council just is not interested in enforcing its own rules, which are there to benefit local people.
After inquiring as to how many people had actually been prosecuted for dog fouling in our local parks, I was told unless you catch an individual with their dog "in the act" it is not really possible.
The council also helpfully informed me that, in spite of 7,000 reported cases of abandoned cars, it has not prosecuted a single person for this antisocial behaviour, in spite of the immense cost of removing these dangerous eyesores, which will no doubt be footed by law-abiding council taxpayers.
Finally, when residents in the Preston Park area complained about people Parking on grass verges in spite of the council having put up No Parking signs, yet again I was told unless the culprit was actually caught in the act, nothing could be done.
Local people deserve better and it really is time a much more can-do attitude was adopted, in order to improve the lives of everyday people.
