I am an Albion supporter who attended the recent Youth Cup match with a friend whose son plays for Wimbledon Youth.
I was very impressed by our youngsters' performance, especially since I understand we fielded a much younger team than the opposition. What we may have lacked physically we made up in ability, organisation and effort.
What was really noticeable was the great team spirit, togetherness and willingness to fight for the club. Clearly, everyone is in this together and it shows.
I expect several of that team will go on to perform regularly for our first team at Withdean and in the state-of-the-art stadium at Falmer, which I am certain will open in mid-2005. Some of our youngsters in particular struck me as being real talents with great potential and I will be watching their progress at the Albion with great interest.
It is reassuring to know the club's future is in such capable hands, both in terms of all the youth coaches and the young players we have coming through.
