Residents of an East Sussex village have again been put on flood standby as a river threatened to burst its banks.
Hellingly village, near Hailsham, was one of the worst hit areas in the floods of 2000.
By 10am yesterday an Environment Agency flood watch message for the River Cuckmere, which runs through the village, had been stepped up to a full flood warning.
Other flood watch messages were issued for the Eastern Rother, between Mayfield and Newenden, the River Brede, between Sedlescombe and Rye, The Ouse between Ifield and Barcombe and the River Uck.
