A French woman awarded the MBE for helping Sussex war veterans was honoured again on Saturday.
Madame Marie Boudier received the MBE for helping to preserve the memory of the 7th Battalion of the Royal Sussex Regiment, following its defence of Amiens during the 1940 German Blitzkrieg.
About 50 people attended a champagne reception and buffet in her honour at the Royal British Legion Hall in Culver Road, Lancing.
A few surviving members of the battalion, including Dickie Lord from Southwick, who carried his accordion through the war, were present.
Hundreds of Sussex soldiers were killed in the fighting around Amiens, many falling victim to an air raid while on a train.
In the past, Madame Boudier has organised an official reception for the survivors at Amiens town hall, a commemorative Mass at Amiens Cathedral and helped to get the memorial to the fallen re-sited and improved with paving and railings.
Dave Lovell, one of the organisers, said: "She has done all this with grace, charm and humility, never seeking reward or recognition for herself.
"She was tickled pink by Saturday's events and the champagne flowed freely."
