Albion Reserves came from behind to clinch a thoroughly deserved 2-1 league win at Peterborough yesterday.
Well-worked goals from Charlie Oatway and David Lee in the final quarter of the game made up for a succession of glaring misses from the Albion strikers in a one-sided second-half.
Francis Green had shot Posh in front on 55 minutes following a quick break from a Brighton corner, but that prompted the visitors to bombard the home goal.
Dan Marney and Chris McPhee forced fine saves from goalkeeper Lee Harrison while the former also volleyed miserably wide when well placed on the edge of the area.
But some magical wing play from John Piercey turned the game on its head.
He raced to the by-line in the 65th minute before pulling back for Oatway to side foot home from ten yards and ten minutes later his superb chip gave David Lee a simple far post finish.
Lee also curled a free-kick into the arms of Harrison and McPhee managed to scoop the ball over the bar from a couple of yards following a fine cross from Paul Rogers.
The first-half had been dominated by Posh with Daniel French missing a one-on-one in the fifth minute while Green saw his close range header palmed away by Will Packham.
Albion Reserves: Packham, Rogers, Harding, El Abd, Butters, Hammond, Lee, Oatway (sub: Beck), Marney, McPhee, Piercey. Subs not used: Greatwich, Bartholomew.
