Now we have reached that special time when we pause to reflect on the achievements of the past year, I thank all readers who have worked tirelessly for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), whether as a member of one of the active NSPCC district fundraising groups or as independent supporters who give up their time or who otherwise donate to our cause.

Thank you for your support, the caring you have shown and your commitment to help bring an end to child abuse.

The NSPCC is the leading children's charity specialising in preventing child abuse and the Full Stop campaign is spearheading a host of new initiatives working directly or in partnership with others to bring about an end to child cruelty.

We cannot do this alone and it is only through the generosity of the general public we will succeed. We must all work together towards achieving the NSPCC's vision, a world where children can grow up safely, are loved and can fulfil their true potential.

If you would like more information about the services the NSPCC provides in your area or how you can help local fundraising, campaigning or raising awareness, please call me on 01293 449216 or look on the NSPCC's web site, www.nspcc.org.uk.

Cruelty to children must stop. Full stop.

I wish you joy at Christmas and a peaceful and happy New Year.
