You've done it again! Generous readers of The Argus have raised a record-breaking £125,000 for the annual appeal.

That's £40,000 more than last year, itself a record, and there is even more to come from events which have just been staged.

What readers know is that every penny raised for the appeal goes directly to worthy causes and none of it is taken by administration.

They also know that the money raised in Sussex is spent in Sussex with charities everyone knows in the area benefiting from the cash.

The main thrust of this year's fund-raising has been towards buying four charity minibuses and there is a fifth on its way.

But there have been individuals receiving help as well such as Kieran Smith, from Sompting, who has severe asthma. He was given a portable nebuliser, which could help save his life.

A feature of The Argus Appeal is the fun people have raising money for it, whether at a big event in The Grand hotel, Brighton, or a more modest evening at a local pub.

Many thanks to everyone who has helped, ranging from firms which have raised thousands to people who contributed a pound or two.

It all helped break the record and aided hundreds of people all over Sussex.

Now let's do even better next year.
