So, John Prescott has approved the all-postal ballot pilot for the Brighton and Hove local elections next May.
However, we still have heard nothing about how fraud will be avoided in multi-occupied blocks with one letterbox or people voting more than once by reporting their ballot paper not received.
The Conservatives and Greens rightly opposed the pilot but the Liberal Democrats supported it despite publicly expressing their concerns about fraud. Why?
Brighton and Hove City Council leader Ken Bodfish and the ruling Labour group must dispel the fears about fraud as soon as possible, otherwise fair local democracy in Brighton and Hove will have been brought into disrepute.
