The report on Black Rock seafront (The Argus, December 20) referred to the re-development brief 2001.
Missing from the report was a specific reference to those two sports elements most important to the skating fraternity, roller and ice skating. The sports are listed in the marketing brief.
The initiative of Keep Sussex Skating (KSS) was responsible for this benchmark of progress back in the Nineties. Brighton and Hove City Council is well informed.
We campaigned to register the community need and consensus. So why is the council so coy? Since this aspect refers specifically to the voice of the community, KSS wishes to highlight its importance.
We are sure that if Councillor Jackie Lythell had pondered more carefully, she would have focused the needs of the citizens as the chief priority consideration for anything that moves at Black Rock.
KSS is monitoring the schemes in progress.
Meanwhile, for community focus, KSS will be at the third Brighton Centre Get Your Skates On event, where we will report and update the skating fraternity. We will be in the foyer from Sunday until January 5, 2003.
Our petition and initiative remain on target for skaters for Black Rock.
