A tree will be planted to celebrate the life of a popular character in the Brighton community.
Helen Robinson, who was the founder of the North Laine Community Association in Brighton in 1976, died in October aged 78.
Her ashes may be scattered around the tree.
Miss Robinson helped produce the association's newsletter and continued to volunteer until she was badly injured in a fall four years ago.
She was well known and popular within the North Laine community.
From 1980 to 1986 she was a street representative for Frederick Gardens and Frederick Street and from 1982 to 1984 she was the community association's treasurer.
From 1982 to 1983 she co-ordinated the Sunday lunch group and from 1986 to 1999 she was street representative for Kensington Gardens and Kensington Street.
The community association has decided to plant the tree, possibly in Tichbourne Street, early in the new year but no date has yet been set.
It is to ask Brighton and Hove City Council if it is allowed to scatter Miss Robinson's ashes around the tree's base.
