Ray Fisher (Letters, December 19) is wrong to say various sculptures have been paid for with council taxpayers' money.
Of those he mentions, the cones at the bottom of West Street, Brighton, were paid for with private money and the large ones on the beach were Lottery funded.
I am sure readers therefore cannot draw attention to similar "ludicrous" schemes, as he suggests.
Most, too, are much better informed about who pays for these things because they read about them in The Argus.
-Coun Mike Middleton, Culture committee member, Brighton and Hove City Council
