Charlie Oatway is called up for his first home start for ten weeks against unpredictable Burnley at Withdean.
The former skipper replaces broken toe victim Simon Rodger in the only change to the team which pulled off a shock 1-0 win at Norwich on Boxing Day.
Oatway replaced Rodger on the left side of midfield in the second half at Carrow Road.
His normal position is in the centre or on the right, but boss Steve Coppell was happy with his contribution at Norwich.
Oatway's only previous home start under Coppell was in the manager's first match in charge, the 4-2 defeat by Sheffield United on October 19.
Michel Kuipers makes his 16th consecutive appearance between the posts, despite suffering a recurrence of thigh trouble in the first half at Norwich.
The injury prevents the big Dutchman from kicking, so Robbie Pethick takes on that duty again today.
Paul Kitson is a long-awaited inclusion on the bench.
The former West Ham forward has not featured since the last of his four starts for the club, against Gillingham at Withdean on September 14.
Kitson has undergone back surgery since then, while a groin injury in training delayed his comeback in the Reserves before Christmas.
Paul Brooker iss also among the substitutes again for the Seagulls. He scored one of the goals in Albion's 3-1 victory on the opening day of the season at Burnley.
The Lancastrians, managed by Coppell's former No. 2 at Crystal Palace Stan Ternent, have been up and down ever since after narrowly missing a play-off place in each of the last two seasons.
Ternent names an unchanged line-up following Thursday's 2-1 win against Wolves at Turf Moor.
Burnley are captained by Brighton born Paul Weller, who made his 200th League appearance for the club against Wolves.
The 27-year-old played for Worthing after Albion rejected him as a schoolboy.
