Brighton and Hove City Council leader Ken Bodfish tells us parking wardens have eased traffic flow and congestion in the city centre but does not tell us where (The Argus, December 23).
Perhaps he means the buses at Churchill Square or cars at Preston Circus, London Road and along the seafront? Where exactly have wardens helped us park more easily and go about our business unhindered? In The Lanes?
I guess wardens will not need hug-proof vests any more. The poor things are victims of their own £3 million success and it is harrassment to photograph them doing such a wonderful job. Surely, if I were to do such a wonderful job, I would advertise the fact in letters ten feet high on every billboard and newspaper, not skulk around back streets?
I live well outside the zone of influence of Western Road and have never seen a traffic jam on my road so why are there congestion-busting wardens and schemes in my area?
How I wish I could see the world from Ken's point of view - it must be wonderful. We'll be wanting the police to stop knifemen in schools next.
