Once again, Sussex Police has said it will not investigate a crime as it has more serious matters to deal with.
Orthopaedic surgeon Ellen Kramer-Hermann was devastated when a motorist ploughed into her BMW and drove off without stopping.
It meant she struggled to fulfill work obligations at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, where she was on call.
Despite coming up with information about the suspect, Ellen was shocked when told by police they would not investigate.
Resources are limited, they said, and they have to be directed towards more serious matters. After all, the insurance company would check to see if the suspect is responsible.
It is not the first time Sussex Police has failed to send officers to deal with a crime. The Argus reported how Din Mohammed and his son Dil had to let an intruder they had locked in their restaurant go as police did not have to staff to respond.
While it is appreciated that officers have a busy life, resources are stretched and crimes have to be graded, the victims of everyday crime should not be ignored.
