Is it any wonder the satirical magazine Private Eye voted Brighton and Hove City Council the Philistines of the Year?
The local football club still has no new stadium. Improvements to Preston Park have been slow, to say the least.
Not only did the council make its failed bid for Capital of Culture by spending money on piercings for buildings but also now the city is attracting national attention for its complete lack of action on the country's only Grade I listed pier.
How sad it is left to the British weather to take a decision before our council gets round to making one.
Local politics sometimes requires swift action and tough decisions to be made but, just because we are a seaside city, we really could do with a lot less fudge than we get at the moment.
