Ben Messer, of Budd (Letters, December 28), made no reference to the owner of the Brighton station site, or the owner's interests or preferences.
As far as I know, this is privately owned land. Therefore, should not the owner's preferences be given priority?
Also if, as I suspect, the owner is Railtrack, should not a maximisation of the site's profit potential be sought to minimise the taxpayer's liability?
Public-interest groups often appear to wish to tell other people what to do with their own property at our expense.
