An action group has been formed to fight the closure of a care home in East Sussex.
Concerned relatives got together to fight East Sussex County Council's decision to develop the New Moreton Centre in Boscobel Road, St Leonards.
They say the stress of moving the eight long-stay residents, many in their 80s and 90s, could kill them.
Hastings and Rye Labour MP Michael Foster has lent his support to the relatives, who met at the Royal Victoria Hotel on the Marina, St Leonards.
The home is to be developed into a 30-place rehabilitation centre to ease hospital bed-blocking after the council made a successful £1 million bid for government cash.
Moves to keep the pensioners at New Moreton have won favour with Residents' Action Group for the Elderly (Rage).
Now a Hastings branch of Rage has been set up to monitor and support quality care for the elderly.
