We all despair, particularly in the festive season, that consumerism is the only sentiment to govern our behaviour.
I was delighted, therefore, when the owners of Pen To Paper, Brighton, allowed me to sell banana-fibre cards through their shop on a sale-or-return basis. The money from the cards funds the school fees of some orphans I known in Fort Portal, Uganda.
Luckily, the cards were very popular and the ladies at Pen To Paper handed over £55 from sales this Christmas. They even threw in some envelopes for free. That money will directly help the lovely children in Uganda. It also made me so happy that some businesses are prepared to give something back to help others. Well done, Pen To Paper.
