Two months after its launch, a fund to help the Albion's battle against relegation has reached fans all around the world - and netted £20,000.
Organisers of the Forty Note Fund were due to hand over the money they have raised so far at Wednesday's home clash with Wimbledon.
But the game was postponed because of heavy rain.
Fund-raisers have now announced not only will they present the cash at the next home game, but they will continue collecting money into the summer.
The fund, first suggested by our columnist Ian Hart, was launched in November, with the original aim of handing over a final sum this week.
Supporters were urged to donate at least £40 each to go towards wages of high-profile loan signings to lift the club off the bottom of the First Division.
The fund has captured the imagination of fans worldwide - donations have come in from New York, Australia, South Africa, Switzerland and Austria.
Doug Clarke, one of the fund's trustees, said: "Considering we have only been going for eight weeks, the supporters have done amazingly well to raise £20,000.
"We want to keep pushing this - there are a lot more Albion fans out there who can help.
"Hopefully we can help Steve Coppell to bring in some players before the end of the season, and also in the summer."
A fund-raising night at the Coral stadium in Hove is being arranged for next month.
Organisers also want to stage a rock concert, featuring teenage Brighton band No Direction and DJs from the record label Skint label, which sponsors Albion.
Although £40 is the suggested donation, fans are encouraged to pay whatever they can afford.
Mr Clarke said: "I have just had someone give me £10 - he said he was sorry it was not more but, like the club's sponsors, he was skint."
Other donors include a Derby County fan, teenage paperboys Tom Green and Matthew Ball who handed over their earnings, and a man who gave £500 provided his wife did not find out.
The £20,000 is expected to be presented on January 18, when the club hosts South Coast rivals Portsmouth.
Albion chief executive Martin Perry has promised the money will be used solely for new players.
Money can be donated at The Argus offices at 9 Dyke Road, Brighton; Crowhurst Road, Hollingbury, Brighton; 142a Church Road, Hove; 35 Chapel Road, Worthing; and 5 Church Road, Burgess Hill.
Donations can also be made to the Allied Irish Bank in Marlborough Place, Brighton, to Doug Clarke, c/o Grate Fireplaces, 77-79 North Street, Portslade, BN41 1DH; or to Mike Middleton, 10 Buxted Road, Brighton, BN1 5DE.
