An elderly driver made a surprise early morning call on his neighbour when his car careered through her garden wall.
The accident happened shortly after 9am yesterday in Pavilion Road, Worthing, when the automatic Rover shot backwards, crashing into a parked car and demolishing a garden wall.
The vehicle ended up just inches from the house.
Neighbour David Cummings, whose white VW Polo was sent spinning on to the pavement as the driver careered past, said it could have been dangerous for passers-by.
He said: "The driver caught the back of my car with enough force to move it from where it was parked on to the pavement.
"I don't know how the crash happened exactly but I know the driver lives around here.
"He looked very shocked."
An ambulance was called but the driver was not injured.
