A kerbside recycling scheme looks set to expand with the injection of more than £500,000 of Government cash.
Lewes District Council has won the provisional grant to widen its popular Box-it scheme already up and running in Lewes, Newhaven and parts of Seaford.
The money would mean residents of Peacehaven, Telscombe Cliffs, East Saltdean and the remainder of Seaford will have their paper, cans, plastic bottles and foil collected from outside their homes.
A report on the funding will go before the Cabinet later this month and, if accepted, five more electric vehicles will be bought to enlarge the fleet of three.
Andy Bryce, the council's recycling service manager, said: "We would like to encourage everyone to play their part in recycling."
