A new controlled Parking scheme in Hove is expected to be approved by councillors on Friday.
Brighton and Hove City Council is proposing that residents can use 97 per cent of the available parking bays in the Goldsmid area of Hove. The rest will be for short-term parking.
A special meeting of the environment committee is being held at Brighton Town Hall at 10am to discuss objections to the scheme.
If it is agreed, every home and business in the area will be invited to apply for a permit. The scheme will also be regularly reviewed with residents so that adjustments can be made to improve it.
Transport councillor Simon Battle said: "We have carried out extensive consultation on the Goldsmid parking plans.
"Our aim has been to balance the needs of all sections of the community, giving priority to residents and short-term parking.
"Parking enforcement in this area will relieve some of the knock on effects residents experienced when a scheme was introduced in central Hove more than a year ago and it will help Goldsmid residents to park nearer their homes.
"It will also benefit people travelling on foot, by bike or bus and make it easier for disabled people to find a space."
Objections are mainly to details of the parking scheme rather than to the idea in principle.
Residents from neighbouring Prestonville have asked the council to bring in a scheme for their area at the same time.
Instead, it has agreed to start consultation on a parking scheme for Prestonville at the end of this month.
