A Sussex couple sold their home at a £50,000 profit when they took part in a property TV show.
Graham Scurr, 30, and his girlfriend, Joanna Kingman, 28, were the stars of last night's episode of Property Ladder on Channel 4.
The programme features people who buy and renovate a house before selling it - hopefully for a profit.
The couple were looking to buy the bungalow in Emsworth, Hants, when they decided to apply to the television series.
Graham said: "At the time of the first series we thought of selling the house we had and going into property developing so we could pay off our mortgage.
"We were thinking of doing up a house each year for five years and hopefully, at the end of the five years, we could pay the mortgage off."
They bought a bungalow in December 2001 and the programme makers followed them through to the completion of the work in July, while presenter Sarah Beeney gave her opinion on the work they were doing.
Improvements included a new bathroom, double glazing and a new boiler as well as a beech-effect kitchen designed by Hove company Kitchen Marvel, which the couple had found on the internet.
Graham said: "It was all down to us who we chose. We did it in a young family style so it would appeal to older people and young people.
"We had quite a varied bunch of potential buyers."
They had set themselves a budget of £8,000 for improvements but spent more than they intended, ploughing £11,500 into the project.
Graham said: "We got a bit carried away on the bathroom. When we were doing it we weren't sure if we wanted to continue with property developing.
"We thought we might as well put nice things in in case we wanted to stay."
Graham and Joanna had bought the bungalow for £126,000 and an estate agent, called in by the programme, estimated the finished property to be worth £165,000.
However, three months after the work was completed the couple sold the bungalow for £190,000.
Next week they are moving to another bungalow, this time in Bosham, near Chichester, which they also plan to develop.
Graham said: "We said we would leave it for a while but a month after finishing this house my girlfriend and I just got bored."
