The news of the West Pier collapsing was like hearing an old friend had taken a fall.
There have been endless talks, promises and delays. If only someone in authority would get their finger out and get something done.
This is typical of Brighton and Hove when anything urgent is required.
So, whoever next says we are going to restore the pier, for God's sake do it.
While we are on the subject of piers - I know I speak for many people - give us back our Palace Pier. We don't like Brighton Pier.
The owners of this pier are against renovation of the West Pier and want all the money and tourists themselves.
What they have done to the Palace Pier is monstrous anyway. Bring back the theatre, the dance floor and fishing and do away with those terrible, noisy rides.
