So we made it, the highest profile occasion in British basketball this season, the national cup final, and the Brighton Bears are involved.
We go into our big game with the Chester Jets considered as major underdogs but we will give it everything to try and pull off the upset.
This is the sort of week I wanted to be involved with when I took over at the Bears but I must admit is has been hard work. We have had television crews down here, we have had national newspapers ringing us up, not to mention the usual daily contact with The Argus.
Yesterday I was down at the seafront with a camera crew and it was freezing cold so that wasn't much fun. I think the Bears staff are getting fed up too with hearing me answering the same questions all the time but, to be honest, I never get tired of talking about the Bears.
Sunday's game is being televised live on BBC2 and we were also shown at our best by Sky Sports this week which is all great publicity for our organisation.
In fact one of our goals as a club at the start of the season was to get into the cup final because we knew this was going to be the biggest media profile of the season. It's hard work but I would hate to be sitting on the outside looking in at two other teams enjoying the limelight.
I did that last year when I saw that classic final between Chester and Birmingham in front of a big, noisy crowd at the Sheffield Arena and I just wanted to be part of it.
As for the game itself, I can confirm Randy Duck will not play. There is no question about that unless we lose three players and he has to go on there to just stand in the corner.
He will probably suit up to take part in the ceremonial part of the cup final but that's it. We will miss him, no doubt about that. When we beat Chester down here this season he was spectacular in the second half. He makes a lot of plays for us.
Errol Seaman though is fit again. I am impressed by the progress he has made this week and he will definitely play. That's a boost for us because I must admit I feared he might not be back again this year.
Looking at Chester, they got four trophies last season and have most of that team back this year. They are all fit while we have our injury worries to take care of.
We got a real confidence boost last Saturday when we beat London Towers by 12 points. Putting it into perspective, on Sunday we will be up against a team who are 15 or 20 points better than Towers were last weekend. They will be motivated and they know how to win.
We will have to give even more than we did last Saturday if we are to pull this thing off and that is saying something. I thought we had a lot of energy, we were tight knit, all on the same page, and we will need to be all those things again if we are to win the cup.
A big challenge then but I never write this Brighton Bears team off and we are extremely excited about the game itself and spreading the word about this club.
Remember we also have a big league game next Wednesday when we visit Thames Valley. We hope to see you at that one but for the time being it's all eyes on the cup final. Raise the roof for us, prove you are the best fans in the land and rest assured we will give it everything out there in the middle.
Go Bears
