A drunk teenager threatened to kill himself by jumping from a top-floor window of a school.
The boy, who is at Thomas Bennett Community College, Ashdown Drive, Tilgate, Crawley, was saved by teachers who held him back and brought him to safety just as emergency services arrived.
Police, firefighters and an ambulance arrived at the school just before 10am on Monday.
Headteacher Yasmin Maskatiya said: "The college had only just opened for students that morning.
"The student in question had been drinking before he came in. Staff were outstanding in coming to the boy's aid speedily and effectively, keeping hold of him and bringing him to safely into the building.
"Clearly this was a very distressing incident. I commend the staff on their quick action and initiative. They were excellent in ensuring no harm came to the student."
