The Boutique, Lust for Life and Drifting are our picks of the week's dancefloor action.
THE BOUTIQUE, Concorde 2, Brighton, January 17
There is a change to the advertised schedule when Fatboy Slim hits the decks at the Concorde 2 on January 17. Norman had to cancel his turn at the Boutique's Christmas party in December due to illness but last year's loss is this year's gain as he returns, joined by label mates Scanty and Space Cowboy. There should be a few tickets left at the Concorde 2 box office, Rounder Records, Bang Records and Music Meltdown. It runs from 10pm to 3am and admission prices are yet to be confirmed. Tel 01273 772770.
LUST FOR LIFE, The Brighton Gloucester, Brighton, Fridays
Taking his cue from the legendary Iggy Pop, DJ Gremlin provides a Friday night alternative to the dancing drums of most weekend clubs at the Brighton Gloucester venue. Expect everything from Sixties soul and rock to the latest indie and alternative tunes via classics from punk to the present. The pre-club meeting place is The Leek and Winkle at 39 Ditchling Road. Just make sure you get the right night - on Saturdays, the Gloucester plays host to Back to School, which is described as the "ultimate skool disco for naughty boys and girls". It could all get very messy indeed. It runs from 10pm to 2am and admission is £5/4. Tel 01273 688011.
DRIFTING, Arc, Brighton, Thursdays
Last year was a breakthrough year for tech house, even though the majority of pundits had problems pigeonholing this incredibly varied music. Drifting is a brand new night dedicated to the genre and should liven up these dreary winter evenings. Residents John Russ and D'Loco will be joined by a special guest every week, while various drinks promotions should help the punters get down on the floor in a number of different ways. This is definitely worth exploring. It runs from 10.30pm to 2.30am and admission is £5/4. Tel 01273 770505.
