Well, what can one say, Mrs Harwood? No, there was no intention of The Argus jumping on the "knock the NHS bandwagon".
It was totally aware how grateful Kelly Funnell and Jamie Wenton were for the care and expertise of all involved in saving the life of Marshall, their son.
They were put into a very distressing, traumatic situation and their only thoughts were for the life of their baby in his hour of great need. Kelly needed expert assistance, being exhausted.
She was given completely wrong advice - she should never have been left to make this traumatic journey, by whatever transport.
She needed NHS help and assistance to London for care in the reciprocate hospital.
She was totally let down and the hospital realises this, which was clear if you read the article properly. As for questioning their contributions to the system, how dare you? We are all entitled to the NHS.
This couple are both hard-working and up to the birth of Marshall had worked their butts off to provide a home for him and themselves. Get your facts correct before you knock people.
I have been fortunate to meet Kelly, Jamie and baby Marshall and a lovely family they are.
Thank you, Royal Sussex County Hospital and Guys, for all your dedicated hard work for this little family and thank you, The Argus, for highlighting their plight. At least it will prevent another family being sent down the same avenue.
