Sport and fitness fans were forced to flee a Mid Sussex leisure centre in their bare feet last night.
Between 50 and 60 people had to leave the Triangle Leisure Centre in Burgess Hill after an alarm went off.
Those waiting outside in the cold included members of an aerobics class, squash players and people using the cafe and bar.
The swimming pool was not evacuated.
Firefighters arrived at 7.30pm and people were allowed back in by 7.45pm.
