I am totally disgusted at the recent decision by the Government to allow the Grand Ocean Hotel, in Saltdean, to house asylum seekers.
Saltdean is a small local community, occupied mainly by private home-owners and families.
It will be ruined. The crime rate, as in many other areas that have had this problem dumped on them, will rocket.
Many of the so-called asylum seekers taken in to the UK have not been thoroughly checked, which has led to undesirable elements entering the country.
I do not want my children to be raised in such an area and, having worked hard for what we have, do not see why I should.
The facilities in the area will not be able to cope with the specialist needs of these people. The community is already stretched for school places and the local police do not even have a presence.
If this is allowed to go ahead, I have no doubt house prices will collapse in the area.
Why should people who have worked hard to buy a house have a major part of its value taken away because of a decision taken by the Government behind everyone's backs?
Who will compensate everyone for the millions the area will lose? Would this have happened if the area had not had Tory councillors?
At a meeting in November, the hotel's owners and local council assured residents this would not happen. Why, then, has it? What have our local MPs done to protect us citizens and taxpayers?
