The writer and co-producer of a new film will be guest of honour at a gala night at Worthing's Dome cinema.

Richard Everett will attend a question and answer session when the wartime drama Two Men Went To War is screened at the seafront venue on February 22 at 7.30pm.

The film, starring Kenneth Cranham, Derek Jacobi, James Fleet and Anthony Valentine, tells the story of two British Army dentists who invaded France in 1943.

The dentists, tired of watching the war from the sidelines, decide to carry out their own mission armed with pistols, grenades and a rickety boat.

Belle Stennett, chairman of the Worthing Dome and Regeneration Trust, said: "We are delighted to be able to bring this uniquely enjoyable film to Worthing and were thrilled that Richard Everett has agreed to join us to answer any questions the audience may wish to put to him."

Mr Everett is no stranger to Worthing.

In his youth, he spent many summers in Ferring and, apparently, many Saturday nights in the back row of the Dome Cinema.

Tickets for the evening are £10, including wine and refreshments, and are available from the Dome box office on 01903 823112.

All proceeds from the evening are going to the Dome Regeneration Appeal, which is seeking to raise money to totally restore the 90-year-old building.
